6 Steps to Prepare for your Spray Tan Appointment

Updated: Jul 31, 2021

1. Wear Loose-Fitting Clothing

  • Such as a big t-shirt, oversized sweatpants and open toed sandals

  • This will ensure that none of the freshly applied spray tan formula will rub off. Avoid denim, yoga pants, and sports bras.

2. Exfoliate at least 4-5 hours before your appointment if possible

  • Exfoliating or shaving several hours ahead of your appointment gives your pores enough time to close and avoid discoloration.

  • Be sure to use OIL FREE exfoliants

  • Finish off your shower with a cold rinse too to help close your pores

3. Shower at least 2-3 hours before your appointment if possible

  • If your skin is freshly wet and your pores haven't had enough time to close the spray tan formula may not stick to your skin properly, leaving you with a discolored tan.

  • Everyone's skin is different... some clients shower right before their appointment and their skin takes really well to the spray tan formula. It all just depends, but its always better to be safe than sorry.

4. Avoid make-up and moisturizers

  • Make sure to come to your appointment with clean skin. Make-up or moisturizers are likely to prevent the spray tan formula from sticking to your skin properly.

5. Make all your other Beauty Services prior to your spray tan appointment

  • Be sure to schedule all your beauty services prior to your spray tan appointment such as waxing, manicures, pedicures, facials, and massages.

  • Getting these services done right after your spray tan is the perfect way to have your gorgeous glow rub right off and leave you with a patchy, discolored tan.

6. Try and book your appointment 2 days prior to your event

  • Your skin needs time to fully absorb the spray tan. If you are getting sprayed before a big event, give your body at least 48 hours to adjust to the tan to ensure your skin glows in the spotlight.

  • For all my brides getting married on a Saturday for example, I always recommend booking your wedding spray tan that Thursday evening prior. Giving you the proper time and rinses before your big day.
